Privacy & cookies
How this site handles your data.
Short version: I use privacy-friendly analytics to understand which work resonates. No advertising, no profiling, no selling your data to anyone. Ever.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for statistical purposes only — to see which pages and case studies people find useful so I can improve the site. Analytics here is:
- First-party and statistical-only — measurement, not marketing.
- Never used for advertising — no ad cookies are set, and Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off.
- Never used for profiling or to make decisions about you.
- Never shared with third-party marketers or ad networks.
Because the data is used purely for statistical analysis and not for advertising, this falls under the statistical-purposes exemption in the UK Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 — which is why you don't see a cookie consent banner. You can still opt out at any time below.
What GA4 collects
In its analytics-only configuration, GA4 records things like:
- Pages you visit and how long you stay
- How you arrived (e.g. a search engine, LinkedIn, a direct link)
- Approximate location (country / region — your IP address is anonymised and not stored)
- Device, browser and screen size
- Anonymous interactions: CV downloads, "book a chat" clicks, contact-form submissions, and clicks on outbound links
It uses a first-party analytics cookie to tell repeat visits apart. No advertising cookies are ever set.
The contact form
If you use the contact form, it collects your name, email address and message. This is personal data under UK GDPR. I use it solely to read and reply to you — it is not added to any mailing list, not used for marketing, and not shared with third parties. Submissions are processed by Netlify Forms (my hosting provider) on my behalf, and I delete messages once they're no longer needed to stay in touch.
You can also reach me without sharing form data — via LinkedIn or by booking a call.
Opt out of analytics
You can turn analytics off for this site right here. Your choice is saved in this browser and respected on every visit.
This site also honours your browser's Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If GPC is enabled, analytics is disabled automatically — you don't need to do anything. You can additionally install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on to opt out across all sites.
Your rights & contact
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete any personal data I hold about you. To do so, get in touch via the contact form or LinkedIn and I'll respond promptly.
